The Tourism Division Office, Rupandehi has been established and is currently operational in accordance with the approved Organization and Management (O&M) Survey and Evaluation Report. Its core mandate involves the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of budgets, policies, and programs aimed at developing the archaeological, historical, religious, cultural, and natural heritage of Lumbini Province. Additionally, the office provides critical feedback on provincial tourism policies. As an implementing body, the office is responsible for executing language, culture, and tourism promotion programs across six districts within its jurisdiction. The Strategic Importance of Tourism- Tourism is the world's largest industry and a primary pillar of Nepal's economic development. Following the Constitution of Nepal’s designation of tourism as a concurrent power of both the Federal and Provincial governments, this office plays a vital role in transforming the natural and cultural diversity of Lumbini Province into economic prosperity. The office was established to support the provincial goal of "Prosperous Province and Happy People" by bringing tourism services directly to the citizens' doorsteps.The office oversees the following six districts in the eastern region of Lumbini Province: 1.Rupandehi 2. Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) 3. Kapilvastu 4 Arghakhanchi 5. Gulmi 6. Palpa Main Objectives: To make tourism industry service delivery simple, easy, and accessible. To ensure the registration, renewal and regulation of tourism businesses are quick, efficient and effective. To create employment opportunities through the development, conservation and promotion of tourism infrastructure. To decentralize services by coordinating with tourism entrepreneurs and the private sector. Key Functions and Responsibilities- The primary functions performed by this office include: Service Delivery and Regulation: Registration, licensing and renewal of tourist-standard hotels, resorts, travel and trekking agencies, and guides. Infrastructure Development: Coordination and implementation of physical infrastructure projects at tourist sites in alignment with provincial tourism policy. Promotion and Publicity: Marketing and promoting tourist destinations, homestays and local cultures. Data Management: Maintaining records of tourist statistics and updating tourism-related information. Diverse Tourism Development: Expansion of eco-tourism, adventure tourism, rural tourism and sports tourism. Coordination: Assisting in the management of Tourist Police and facilitating rescue operations for tourists.
